The Customs Code in new edition has come into force on April 22, 2016, and it now allows right holders to control the importation of goods which are protected as an intellectual property in Uzbekistan.From now on, the customs authorities have acquired the right to suspend the release of goods containing signs of infringement of intellectual property right.Infringement of exclusive rights to trademarks or other intellectual property is not only importation of counterfeit goods, but also the original products imported without the consent of the right holder or an authorized person.In order to record the intellectual property with the Customs register, the applicant shall provide

  1. an application for customs recordal; - will be prepared by Legalmax
  2. copies of registration certificates or extracts from WIPO’s Romarin system; - will be prepared by Legalmax
  3. copy of the power of attorney for the representative;
  4. payment of the customs recordal (fee 15 euros per IP object).

The customs recordal process takes 10 working days. The IP object can be recorded with the Customs register for a period of up to 3 years, subject for prolongation, unless expired earlier.
